Join us on the Water

Elwood Sailing Club is proud of our history of competitive and recreational sailing off the beach with monohulls and catamarans and our thriving windsurfing and board sports community.

Sunday Sessions

For members who want to get out on the water more often, improve their skills, sail with friends, with a RIB (rigid inflatable boat) nearby for support, come join us for a relaxed Sunday morning of sailing, windsurfing and paddleboarding! Sunday Sessions run fortnightly until Christmas, recommencing after the Christmas break and continuing until the end of the sailing season.

Sunday Sessions is a club sponsored activity scheduled between 9am and midday. Participants can bring their own boat, windsurfer or SUP or borrow one from us.

The aim for members to improve their confidence on the water and hone their sailing, windsurfing and paddle board skills. A couple of sailing marks will be placed for short course sailing and starting practise. A small RIB will be on the water to supervise, support and offer coaching tips as required. It will also be an opportunity for members to come down and enjoy the amenity of ESC with other members and friends.Given access to ESC is difficult when major events are scheduled on the Elwood foreshore (including triathlons, fun runs, Around the Bay bike ride, etc) our Sunday sessions will not be running on these Sundays. Advanced notice will be published in the ESC newsletter.

The sessions are weather dependent. If maximum windspeed (forecast or actual) is greater than 15 knots, the session will also not run, so please keep an eye on the BOM weather report. For those signed up to the Sunday Session Signal group, you will be notified.

Our training boats suffer accelerated rates of wear and tear in the hands of novice sailors as they come to grips with what works and importantly, what doesn’t. We owe a big THANK YOU to Bendigo Bank for their continued generous support of our club training boats helping us to keep the fleet in good and safe order.
