{"id":6335,"date":"2019-10-18T10:54:39","date_gmt":"2019-10-17T23:54:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.elwoodsc.com\/blog\/?p=6335"},"modified":"2024-05-12T15:40:01","modified_gmt":"2024-05-12T04:40:01","slug":"draft-by-laws","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.elwoodsc.com\/blog\/draft-by-laws\/","title":{"rendered":"Draft By-laws"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Dear Members,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the 2019 AGM, it was resolved to amend the Rules of&nbsp;the Elwood Sailing Club to enable the General Committee to make, repeal and&nbsp;amend by-laws necessary for the&nbsp;good conduct of the Club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The General Committee is pleased to be able to provide&nbsp;members with a draft copy of the by-laws for their review and comment<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.elwoodsc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/ESC-Draft-By-laws-v3.0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> <\/a><\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.elwoodsc.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/ESC-Draft-By-laws-v3.0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">(click&nbsp;here).<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>In drafting the by-laws, we have sought to aggregate&nbsp;all relevant procedures, directions and instructions that have been&nbsp;communicated to members over the years&nbsp;(including via the newsletter, other&nbsp;emails, notices and announcements). We also took the opportunity to add&nbsp;some new things where we felt there were gaps or&nbsp;deficiencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In deciding what to keep and what to add, we tried to&nbsp;focus on by-laws that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Protected the rights of all members to enjoy the Club safely, without&nbsp;negatively impacting on others;<\/li><li>Protected the long term sustainability of the Club (e.g. our revenue streams, liquor licence compliance, other regulatory requirements); and\/or<\/li><li>Ensured the ongoing good conduct of the Club.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We hope that once finalised the by-laws will give&nbsp;existing members a better understanding of the Club\u2019s requirements, and new&nbsp;members an induction document that&nbsp;presently does not exist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The General Committee looks forward to receiving your&nbsp;feedback on the draft by-laws by the end of October.
